OVERVIEW

Hospital Radiologists work to diagnose and treat patients using radiologic imaging. They explain procedures to patients, prepare and position patients for tests and perform those tests while following radiologic safety procedures. Hospital Radiologists also carefully monitor patients, develop film, and maintain and operate specialized equipment. The Radiologist ensuring the preparation and the work of all radiographic equipment; computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or mammography technologists.

The Radiological Sciences program, in Inaya Medical college (IMC), woks on providing technology guides for tomorrow, by designing a caring environment to develop students and graduates to enter and progress in the professional life as a leaders able to develop themselves, and always, continuously contact with the college. The program's plan depends on number of axes and ambitious initiatives which drive toward fine-tuning the student’s skills in order to prepare him/ her to join the real work area after getting the highest level training and practical laboratory during their study.

The vision, mission and values of Radiological Sciences Department have been formulated and updated in light of the vision, mission and objectives of Inaya Medical College (IMC).

Strategic Plan for the Department of Radiological Sciences depend on the number of axes and basic vision and ambitious initiatives that drive in academic direction toward the highest level compared with the corresponding departments at the local and international level and that is fine-tuning the student skills to prepare to join the real work area after getting the highest level training in hospitals and also in the practical laboratories for technique and simulation parts during their study and then communicate with the graduate to upgrade and update their skills and abilities through training and continuing education.

OBJECTIVES

  • Prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the knowledge cognitive, psychomotor (skills), and affective behavior in learning domains of medical diagnosis.
  • Offer the highest quality clinical education in radiology in a learning environment that fosters critical thinking, encourages professional leadership, inspires research, and instills a strong appreciation of ethical values and human diversity.
  • Promote a basic understanding and abilities to conduct research in radiology field.
  • Acting as an expert consultant to your referring physician by aiding him or her in choosing the proper examination, interpreting the resulting medical images, and using test results.
  • Treating diseases by means of radiation (radiation oncology) or minimally invasive, image-guided therapeutic intervention (interventional radiology).
  • Correlating medical image findings with other examinations and tests.
  • Recommending further appropriate examinations or treatments when necessary and conferring with referring physicians.
  • Directing radiologic technologists (personnel who operate the equipment) in the proper performance of quality exams.

MISSION

  • Take advantage of qualified expertise in the department and communicate with the medical community inside and outside the Kingdom for continuous development of the academic, practical, clinical and training programs.
  • Organizing events and scientific activities and enrich the department with applicable and achievable future studies which elevate the reputation of the development locally and internationally, through coordination between all department specific committees.
  • Keep capacities of all cadres in the "Radiological Sciences Department” in a distinct level of performance; harmonious and continuing through modern methodology techniques.
  • Assessing learning outcomes by advanced monitoring techniques in order to ensure the continued high rate performance through self-assessment and periodic review at all times.
  • Make sure to match the academic, practical, clinical and training programs with the followed standards in the world as well as to meet NCAAA standards.
  • To contribute in the promotion of the health services for the Saudi community through producing qualified professionals with the ability to compete internationally in applied medical professions, to provide an environment that encourages learning and creativity, and to produce scientific research that contributes in building a knowledge society.

Graduation requirements: Students are required to complete 136 credit hours in a four-year period and obtain cumulative GPA 2 out of 5 at least. A one-year internship is also required to achieve a Bachelor’s degree.

All the followed academic plans of all specialties in the college are accredited by The National Committee for Academic Assessing and Accreditation and the Shrine of the Ministry of Higher Education.
